Baron Louis, the son of Eugene, was a very important person in the history of Montfaucon. He restored the castle at the end of the XIX century, saving it from falling into ruin. This cuvee is a tribute to him. Baron Louis is a blend of our finest lots of old vines with very low yields of under 30hl/ha. The blend of six grapes (Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Counoise and Mourvedre), some of them co-fermented, combines elegance, complexity and richness.
Only 60 percent of the blend is aged in French oak barrels. In this way I wish to keep the spirit of the Rhône where oak never dominates the wine but the wine has a more complex fruity and spicy character.
